Barbara Faye Wells, 80, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Gibbs officiating. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home. Burial will be private for immediate family only.
Barbara was born on July 15, 1943. She was a retired Campus Police Officer for the Bibb County Board of Education and prior Deputy Sheriff for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Barbara was a founding member of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her four-legged fur babies Layla & Pepper. She loved slow walks on the beach with the sand between her toes and cherishing the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Barbara is survived by her son, Shane Edwards (Mickie) of Macon; her precious granddaughter, Emily Edwards, of Macon; her brothers, Dwain Nix (Mahala) and Randy Nix of Dublin; sister, Jan Nix Fields of Milledgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Walter Windham; and her biological father, Jimmy and Frances Nix.
