Lawrence “L.T.” Richard Taylor, 81, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Sardis-Heard Funeral Home, with Reverend Johnny Stephens officiating. The family will greet friends for a visitation one hour before the service.
Lawrence was born on July 5, 1942, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Wendell C. Taylor and Dorothy Worden Taylor. He was mischievous as a child and did not complete high school, but that did not stop him from completing his GED in 1985, at the age of 43. He was a dairy worker, truck driver, mechanic, and owned a gas station. He married Sandra Gail Clark on August 8, 1964, in Hudson, Michigan. They moved to Macon, Georgia in 1980, to live near family. He and Sandra enjoyed yearly travels back to Michigan to visit with family and friends. Lawrence retired from the City of Macon. He was the Landfill Coordinator who foresaw all operations of Macon’s landfills. Lawrence loved to count his money, wash his car, and take care of his dogs. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Sandra Gail Taylor; his children, Kimberly Taylor Baxter, Jeff Taylor (Stephanie), Rhonda Lawson (Darrell), and Jeremy Taylor (Sabrina); and his grandchildren, Tad, Truett, Cody, Allie, Sierra, Daija, Kyle, and Santiana; his great grandchildren, Lani, Charlotte, and Greyson; his siblings, Wendell Taylor (Sue), and Shirley Eastman; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Ken Smith.
